Our best kept secret is the bushman paintings which can only be seen by appointment with Chris because they are so precious to us. There are seven Khoi-san rock art shelters in the area, some with up to eighty individual paintings.

Historical Monuments Wakkerstroom Court House

Wakkerstroom has 3 national monuments, namely St Mark’s Church, the Court House and the Old Kruger Bridge. Worth a visit, or learn more about them on an historical tour with Chris Smit.

Horse Riding

Explore Wakkerstroom on horseback. Take an outride from Ambleside Stud on the outskirts of town, through the village, stopping for a drink along the way if you wish. Lüneberg Circle Drive

The route between Wakkerstroom and Lüneberg offers some of the most spectacular views that you will see anywhere. Take a packed picnic or stop off at the Whistling Duck’s Coffee shop for traditional German hospitality.

Pony rides, hiking and a lovely kiddies playground awaits you. Why not take the tar road there and the dirt road back for two very different experiences. The drive is about 40 minutes to an hour each way. Contact Whistling Duck 082 388 2824

Off Road Biking and Quads Off road biking

Martins Dam is a lovely venue for a family picnic…bring the dogs too for a swim in the dam!

Walk the Dogs

The airstrip on the Amersfoort road is a wonderful, open field in which to take your dogs for a long run. Walk down from the strip to Martin’s Dam where they can frolick in the water. Get a map with hiking routes at the Info centre for more walks which the dogs can enjoy too!
